From time to time Side By Side will use this page to feature community through photographic art.

Side By Side is proud to feature the work of award-winning, South African photojournalist and activist Rushay Booysen. Booysen, who hails from Nelson Mandela Bay, South Africa, fashions himself as a "freemason of the voiceless" - an artist who uses his art to tell the stories of those seldom seen or heard. Rushay proudly notes that he has had no “formal training” but picked up the camera out of his commitment to social justice and his desire to work for a better world.

He’s been credited with having an uncanny eye for realism and a deeply intuitive ability to capture stories through his lens. Enjoy his work!
